Innovation and Economic Prosperity: Identified Areas of Opportunity

Increase cross campus capabilities to improve industry relationships

We are exploring where we can build capability, speed and consistency to reduce friction and improve service levels with our industry partners.

Improve UW–Madison’s research policies to ease industry engagement

We are working to understand the barriers our industry partners face when pursuing agreements at UW–Madison and where we can establish fair expectations while creating shared value.

Capitalize on industry’s open requests for innovations to solve current business problems

We are actively learning more about industry open requests for proposals and how we can improve our approach and management of “open innovation portals” to best leverage these industry engagement opportunities.

Establish focus on potential high growth and emerging fields

We are exploring ways to identify, highlight and encourage cross campus priority areas of opportunity that can result in scaling of investment and industry engagement.

Improve internal incentive structures to encourage business and community engagement

We are exploring ways to directly incentivize faculty and staff to engage with industry or community partners.

Improve communication efforts to promote UW–Madison’s value proposition to internal and external stakeholders

We are exploring how we can drive external and internal awareness of UW–Madison’s offerings while improving engagement with industry.

How can I contribute to this effort or learn more?
